- Marginalia
- a search engine that intentionally looks for websites with bad SEO (search engine optimization) and is great for going down rabbitholes.
- waifu2x image resizer
- yeah, silly name aside this is one of the best image upscalers i've seen. nothing else really cpmpares.
- not bionic reading
- bionic reading is helps with reading for neurodivergent people by bolding a few letters of each word. unfortunately this is locked behind a paywall for some insane reason, which costs 500$ a month. say no to that bullshit with this neocities page that does the same exact thing for free.
- easyussr's guide to torrenting
- easiest tutorial on how to torrent i've seen. written a little more condescending than i'd like, but this is a really solid tutorial.
- inferkit
- for predictive text, you really won't get better than inferkit. it's not a tool that can really replace writing but it's good at doing what it's supposed to do, which is give predictive text. unfortunately it does cap out pretty quick, but if you use any vpn you can find ways to get around this restriction ;)
- nanowrimo
- nanowrimo started as a humble little competition for writers to write a whole novel in a month, and had advanced word tracking and measuring tools to encourage writing that little more every single day. now, the site allows you to do this outside of the month of november, for free. i really encourage anyone who finds it difficult to write without some sort of reward attached to try this, as it worked really well for me to get me to write every day and now i've been doing it for multiple years.
- archive of our own
- a permanent, growing archive for fanfiction. good to read through or to write for. at this point if you wanna write fanfiction you'll usually know to go here, but it's still a really good site and i fell back in love with the concept of fanfiction here. yes, the archive can include very bad things and it's tagging system can't do it all, but there's a couple things you can do to make your experience better.
- ao3 savior
- so, the downside to a unrestrictive site like ao3 is that there are going to fics about subject material you don't like. ao3's tagging system keeps this in mind but you have to do this song and dance every single time. what this greasyfork script does is cut that out- hiding fics from view that include tags or subject material that you simply don't want to see or access. strong recommend.
- neocities
- social media is a disease that has made us all more volatile and connected us in ways people were never meant to. it's time to return to making our own websites with absolute freedom. neocities is the cure- its what this website is built off. what neocities offers is 1GB of data, which is way more than you'll ever assume you'll need for more websites, and allows you to freely host html files. it has a robust html/css/java editor. there are plently of sites out there that can help you get a site off the ground.
- Gunshow
- kc green's funny little comic that ran for a while. has its own dense lore but overall is kind of just whatever gag he thinks is funny. [HAS ENDED]
- nedroid
- comic site for anthony clark. bearato's on here, it's good. its like kirby but fucked up.
- BACK
- anthony clark and kc green team up for a fun comic with kc green's usual cosmic sense of escalation. i feel like this one works best for beginners into his line of work. anthony clark does fucking fire illustration work as well. [HAS ENDED]
- Devil's Candy
- this is so funny. so well drawn. it has the stylings of this cool manga that was big in 2007 or 2010 that has now completely been forgotten. i love the characters in it, there's a real earnestness to it that taps into what people like about fantasy school settings.
- LATE NITE
- also known as plaza.one, this site has y2k aesthetics and retro music. fun for some y2k website reading, i think!
- Bogleech
- bogleech is a site that i would call "roach-pilling central". johnathon is such an unabashed proponent of the weird and creepy and his articles are usually pretty well written and invites you to see creepy crawlies in a new way.
- The Cutting Room Floor
- this is the site for cut content in video games. you can get completely engrossed in their archeology of these games and every game that has a page usually has one interesting thing to look at.
- Y2K
- this site would not exist without copied code from this neocities site. i got the idea for this page off them as well. theyre a really cool individual and their site was a huge inspiration for this one.
- 9/11 Real Time
- this site allows you to experience the 9/11 media coverage in real time as it was happening.
- Yesterweb
- it's time to take the web back. site provides resources and other cool stuff at the forefront of a new web movement.
- Texture Town
- more of a fun resource site that loads textures across 3d objects.
- CSS Grid Garden
- this is a really cool css game you can play that teaches you the primers of grids in css!
- Web3 is Going Great
- learn about all the recent grifts and failures of the web3 and metaverse spaces and watch money burn. in real time.
